Rescuers fought heavy rains today in a desperate search for survivors after a tsunami causing a volcanic eruption killed hundreds of people and injured thousands. Anak Krakatoa has been active since June. It occasionally sends massive plumes of ash to the sky. According to experts, Anak Krakatoa emerged around 1928 in the caldera of Krakatoa, an island that violently erupted in 1883. With tons of lava flowing it grew to this 'Anak Krakatoa', with now standing 300 metres above sea level

Ray Cas, a volcanology professor, said that it had been semi continuous, growing bigger every 2 or 3 years, when it underwent eruption. According to National Disaster Agency, more than 50 people are missing. Dody Ruswandi, a senior official, said that the military and police are searching the ruins. Indonesia, who commonly face natural disasters, find such eruptions normal. Deadliest eruption of Mount Krakatoa happened on August of 26th 1883. It destroyed hundreds of towns and villages, leaving more than 35000 people dead.

In 2004, a massive 9.1 magnitude earthquake struck 14 countries and on Aceh in northern Sumatra, killing 226,000 people along the Indian Ocean, more than half from Indonesia. In 2005, strong quakes hit western coast of Sumatra between March and April. At 20089, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck near Padang, West Sumatra. More than a thousand people were killed.

Currently, 2018, major quakes hit Lombok, killing about half a thousand people, mostly the northern part of the island. More than 2000 people are killed by earthquake and tsunami that hit Palu. Now, the child of Krakatoa, erupted.
